Oh, the information age. The utterly tubular technology of the internets can now allow budding authors like you and I to tell the world just how you feel about the most important issues regarding your very existence: the culture wars, the current geopolitical climate, bacon, your cat, global warming, other people's cats, and so on. And the hyperlinked nature of the medium allows us to share these views with others and participate in a global discussion that enhances our understanding of these issues and maybe -- just maybe -- each other.

It also allows us to engage in grand-scale flame wars and petty bitchfests, but we generally try to ignore those.
